Ranbir Kapoor and the leading ladies of 'Barfi!', Priyanka and Ilena have been busy promoting their forthcoming film.
With BARFII! all set for release,
one wonders whether this film could be the calling card for Ranbir
Kapoor and will this make it to the 100 crore club.
While we are still wondering, who was this mystery girl who kissed Ranbir at a promotional event for the film?
Seems Ranbir has made a promise not to kiss and tell.
Laughs Anurag Basu, the architect
of the film, "You can't make a film thinking that whether it would do
100 crores at the box office. In any case, I am a little selfish when it
comes to making films because I want to enjoy the process rather than
thinking about the crores it is going to make."
He goes on to add, "I loved what
BARFI! had to say and that's the sole reason why I made. There was no
ulterior motive to either think overtly commercial or artist. Na mann
mein aisa tha ki kuch alag karoon naa duniya ko bataana ki dekho, aisi
filmein bhi hamaari country mein banti hain. I don't want to prove
anything to anyone. For all it matters, you could still go ahead and
plan a film for 100 crore club. Par agar kahaani ke saath ishq na ho toh
phir mazaa nahi aata."
While this is what the film's
director has to say, one looks forward to what Ranbir has to say about
the feat. With his solo releases like ROCKSTAR and AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB
KAHAANI crossing the 60 crore mark long back, it is about time that he
too justifies the tag of being the hottest young superstar and gets past
the 100 crore milestone quick and strong.
lleana D' Cruz, who makes her
Hindi film debut with "Barfi!", is considered the highest paid actress
in the southern film industry and says she gets what she deserves. "I
can't comment on that as I have not seen anyone else's paychecks,"
Ileana told IANS when asked about the highest paid actress tag.
"I think any actor would be lying
if they say money doesn't matter and it's only the experience that they
enjoyed the most. I do care about money and want to make more. I do
respect my work and people want to pay me more for my work. It is
flattering but it's a huge responsibility to pull off a character," she
added.
Priyanka Chopra, who plays an
autistic girl in "Barfi", says she is game for such tough roles. Asked
how she chooses such tough roles one after the other, Priyanka said:
"Whichever role is the toughest, bring it to me, I'll do it."
Director Anurag Basu is on cloud nine after receiving his first 'U' certificate from Censor Board for "Barfi!".
"Just got the censor
certificate, 'Barfi!'is my first U certificate film," tweeted Basu who
previously directed "Murder", "Gangster - A Love Story", "Life in a...
Metro" that were released with an A-certificate, while "Kites" was
awarded U-A certificate.
Says Anurag, "Barfi is not a
silent film. Yes, there aren't too many dialogues in the film. Actually
in quite a few of my previous films you will find that there are long
scenes with no dialogues. In GANGSTER there was a 20 minute scene with
no dialogue. In fact while writing the story of BARFI it was a sort of
challenge to write a scene without dialogues. I had to let the
expressions and emotions do the talking, rather than expressing the
scene in words."
Slated to release Sep 14, it also marks Telugu actress Ileana D'Cruz's foray into Bollywood.
